Makuru,Nairobi
The slums of Nairobi are home to approx. 2,500,000 people who show stoicism and optimism despite having so little and living under the ever present threat of Aids. These pictures are taken in the slums and on a visit to a church charity project which is home to children orphaned by violence. Many of their stories are sad beyond belief but the light in their smiles is a testament to hope over adversity.

Legacy in Landscape
Much of the land surrounding Mark’s Wiltshire home is defined by the fusion of natural landscape with products of human endeavour. Foreign bodies gradually bed into the countryside and appear unexceptional to us. Mark uses various lens based techniques to conjure up startling frames of the familiar encouraging us to look at them again with fresh eyes.

Exhibition Visitors' portraits
Mark held a joint exhibition with Artist Blacksmith Melissa Cole at her Shed Space Gallery @ Puthall farm as part of Marlborough Open Studios 2009. Melissa created a Daliesque metal object in her forge but had no idea what it can be used for.
Visitors were invited to participate in a series of photographs: Walking onto a simple grey backcloth and using only this simple prop, they were asked to pose showing this mystery object’s true purpose-as they saw it.
Here is a small selection of the 200 portraits taken.
